Common questions
What you may want to know before reaching out.
Starting therapy can bring uncertainty. These answers are here to make the first step clearer and less overwhelming.
Getting started
Fit & first steps.
Anita serves anybody aged 16–99 with culturally sensitive, individually tailored care.
If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or want support navigating a difficult experience or transition, therapy may help. You do not need a perfectly defined goal to start a conversation.
It is a brief phone conversation to share what you are looking for, ask questions, and learn about Anita’s approach. It is not a therapy session, does not create a therapeutic relationship, and does not obligate you in any way to continue.
The first full session focuses on an assessment of current symptoms, relevant history, strengths, goals, and what helps you feel safe enough to engage. You set the pace.
Approaches & specialties
How the work happens.
Primary areas include trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse, stress, life transitions, family conflict, peer relationships, and coping skills.
Brainspotting uses visual focus, body awareness, and therapist attunement to help access and process experiences that can be difficult to reach through conversation alone. The Brainspotting page explains Anita’s training and process.
Bilateral sound alternates between the left and right ears. Anita may offer it through headphones as an optional tool during Brainspotting. You can pause, adjust, or decline it at any time. Learn more in the bilateral sound section of the Brainspotting page.
IFS-informed care can help you notice protective, critical, avoidant, or vulnerable parts with curiosity. Together, you explore what each part is trying to prevent and build more choice in how you respond. The IFS-Informed Therapy page explains the approach in more detail.
No. Trauma work is paced carefully and collaboratively. Brainspotting can often support processing without requiring a detailed verbal retelling. You remain in control of what you share.
